Cobra Chutes, Joe Boots, and Pure Chaos

Story by Destro Designs / Viper Den Studios
Part 1 – Epic Entrance Song Battle
Right off the rip, the trombone comes blasting in, with the off beat, ear blaring sound that goes right to my heavy metal roots. Out of nowhere, a shooting star rolls through the sky in a serpentine movement and blasts into the Gi Joe sign with explosive fireworks as the drummer gets wicked. A Cobra flying aircraft carrier lurch’s into view as its silhouette is back lit by the full moon.
Parachutes abound, we get hit with an inexplicable grundle to the face shot from a Cobra Trooper, giving us the only flaw in this monumental opening.
Turning up the heat, the overlapping vocals shouting cobra….COBRA!! as the sky is overwhelmingly littered with Cobra ‘chutes, Trouble Bubble’s and CLAW’s.
Panic breaks out as the civilians know not what to do, and as i feel my 8 year old self levatating from this excitement, I burst up off the ground as the Crimson Guard soldier smashes out the camera lens with a devastating over hand right. When that glass flew, so did my idea of this being like anything else I had seen or heard yet…. I point to Major Bludd and shout as his CLAW is shot up.
In that moment, as all good things in life are, we are now met with balance as Gi Joe was waiting in the wings, a bevy of Joes launch with Jump Jet packs from the crown of the Statue of Liberty, very fitting. Sky hawks blast off in a crew to thwart this Cobra air assault.
Joes are now swarming all the Cobra Forces, even on foot, at the Base of New Yorks Queen Statue led by Recondo.
With the search lights cascading upwards, illuminating the aerial cornucopia of Joes and Cobra’s locked into battle in front of the Cobra Mothership.
Destro readies an explosive sure to change the tide of this battle. He hands it to Cobra Commander as he slices through the war raging through the air and plants it at the feet of Lady Liberty. After escaping its blast Radius we see Snake Eyes, pull what is a move so cool, i pump my fist, and I say “thats the best!!” but Snakes move is met at the finish line by the fact Alpine hooked a fire bat, then punched its flight shield out with a bare fist, sending into an incoming Moray in the Hudson River, and then hooking onto Snake Eyes‘s commandeer’d Trouble Bubble.
Cobra Commander takes a Uppercut full of Freedom from Duke and is sent hurtling down towards the ground as the bright effects of the battle are reflected in his face mask..
Scarlett and Bazooka start knocking brothers out like a bunch of cross town brawlers. General Hawk empties the clip, Lady Jaye throws a javelin of doom, Flint busts out the grip of some Vipers as Roadblock show them that 2 heads are better than one by smashing their iconic helmets together. Beachead and Iceberg show us good Back-To-Back tactics.
Having been thoroughly whooped on, The Cobra Brass try to make it back to the safety of their flying fortress, only to see Duke use the instrument of Cobra’s wrath against the very Snakes Cobra calls their own.
The battle comes to a crescendo, the Cobra Sky Leviathan explodes like the Hidenberg, only worse, as a soundtrack of that old familiar hiss from Cobra Commander, “Retreat, Retreat” plays over the Exploding Freedom Fireworks that is the Gi Joe Victory. All symbolized by Duke flying the flag on the peak of America’s unifying symbol that is the great Statue of Liberty.
Its the greatest entrance to anything, ever.
It paves the way for the first scene to be a grand slam, and delivers by making it a run of about 15 minutes thats as good as anything ive ever seen.
To be continued….
